UV LEDs Spotlighted at Sold-Out Industry Conference

UV+EB Technology

RadTech International North America, Bethesda, Maryland, in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), recently hosted a sold-out conference and exhibition devoted to UV (ultraviolet) LEDs on Oct. 28-29 in Troy, New York. Building on the growth of ultraviolet and electron beam curing processes, the event brought together chemistry developers, equipment makers, academia, government representatives and manufacturers to examine opportunities for the further development and use of industrial UV LEDs.

“UV LEDs are rapidly emerging as a breakthrough manufacturing technology,” says Peter Weissman, of Quaker Chemical Corp., and president of RadTech. “Industry events such as these are vital to US industrial efforts to learn about new enabling processes that will help companies become more efficient, environmentally responsible, and competitive.” With standing-room only sessions, a sold-out exhibition area, and a tour of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Polymer Lab and Smart Lighting Energy Research Labs, the event was designed to provide an overview and outlook for the market and technology for UV LEDs.

The use of ultraviolet light and electron beams are well established and widely used across the spectrum of manufacturing, including 3D printing, aerospace, automotive, electronics, wood and building products and printing and packaging. The next conference devoted to the technology will be RadTech 2016, which will take place May 16-18 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago, Illinois.
