IUVA Names New Leadership

Dr. Kati Bell is the new president of the IUVA organization.

The IUVA installed Dr. Kati Bell, the MWH Water Reuse Global Practice Leader, as the group’s new president at the biennial IUVA World Congress. Oliver Lawal, president of AquiSense Technologies, was voted as president-elect, with Dr. Karl Linden, professor of environmental engineering, University of Colorado-Boulder, now assuming the role as immediate past president.

“I am delighted that our very successful World Congress in Vancouver served as the start of my new role,” says Dr. Bell. “With fantastic attendance and a large number of high-quality technical presentations, we look forward to building on the strong momentum and support created by IUVA members for our group.” Dr. Bell managed the development of the 2012 EPA Guidelines for Water Reuse, and her technical project work on wastewater UV disinfection projects sums to over 2.0 billion gallons per day.

IUVA also announced that Gary Hunter, Black and Veatch, is the new treasurer. Dr. Ron Hofmann, University of Toronto, now is IUVA secretary. IUVA also named Dr. Chip Blatchley, Purdue University, as co-VP for the Americas along with Dr. Jamal Awad from GHD. In addition, Josh Goldman, CDM Smith, and Dr. Hu Jiangyoung, National University of Singapore, were elected by the membership as new members of the IUVA Board of Directors.
